Amnesty International Australia has made a submission to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet regarding the Commonwealth Government’s COVID-19 Response Inquiry.
As an organisation, Amnesty has campaigned for the equitable distribution of pandemic related products around the world, with a particular focus on the role that international trade rules played in slowing the speed on the global response to COVID-19, and therefore Australia and other countries’ access to these products.
Beyond this, Amnesty’s submission is primarily focused on the human rights implications of international border closures on Australian citizens along with the impact of ‘blanket’ vaccine mandates across Australian jurisdictions.
