Last week, the Australian Government returned refugees who had been held for over one year in hotel detention to Nauru.
Trapped in their rooms for up to 23 hours a day, with no access to the outside world, the government forced people to choose between these conditions and offshore detention, where they face medical neglect. We cannot allow this injustice to continue.
Palm Sunday has a long history as a day to stand up and challenge injustice. This year that tradition endures as people around Australia come together on March 28 to demand justice and a fair go for refugees.
That’s why this Palm Sunday, we’ll be sending personalised postcards to our decision makers, asking them to accept New Zealand’s long standing offer to resettle refugees from Australia’s offshore detention regime.
