Manun Wongmasoh is part of Australia’s Write for Rights 2024—the world’s biggest human rights event.
Manun is a transgender woman and a fearless advocate for the rights of Muslim LGBTQIA+ people in Thailand. Despite facing relentless online abuse and threats, she has continued to speak out for justice, equality, and the right to be yourself without fear.
But being an activist has come at a cost. Manun has been subjected to violent threats, harassment, and relentless digital attacks simply for defending human rights. She has faced doxxing, targeted online abuse, and even threats of physical harm—an experience all too common for women and LGBTQIA+ activists in Thailand.
Digital violence is being used as a weapon to silence those who dare to stand up. But Manun refuses to back down.
Amnesty International is calling on Thai authorities to protect Manun and all women, girls, and LGBTQIA+ activists from digital violence and harassment.
Join us in sending Manun messages of hope and solidarity. Let her know she is not alone in her fight for justice. Your words of support can remind her that she is heard, valued, and supported by people around the world. You can mention her resilience, her advocacy for safe spaces for Muslim LGBTQIA+ people, or share words of encouragement inspired by her unwavering commitment to equality.
A letter can change someone’s life. That’s the idea behind Write for Rights, our global letter-writing campaign.
