The symposium provides an opportunity for artists and poets to use avant-garde arts and poetry to explore critical feminist perspectives on social justice and human rights. The value of transnationalism will be highlighted. The meaning and the consequences of colonizing human rights will be explored.
Created and directed by award winning human rights activist, poet and filmmaker Saba Vasefi. The event will be hosted by the Greens MP and a finalist in the Daily Life Woman of the Year Award Dr. Mehreen Faruqi, launched by CEO of the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence Kirstie Parker, and MC’d by SBS Radio Executive Producer Roza Germian from the Kurdish language program.
The panel discussion will be chaired by Walkley Award Winning Journalist and The Guardian’s immigration correspondent Ben Doherty. The panel asks leaders in law, the media, the arts and community activism to discuss ways to resist opposition to radical changes in the promotion of universal human rights and social equality.

The symposium will include courageous voices from Nauru and Manus detention centres, ‘World Citizen’ Mina Taherkhani, poet and Journalist Behrouz Boochani.
Featuring youth artists, cellist and vocalist Minerva Khodabande, vocalist Rebecca Hatch and outspoken feminists from a transnational community; award winning artist and activist Candy Royalle, award winning hip hop artist Kween G and poet and activist Sara Saleh.
