At 4pm on Sunday 20th August, Loosely Woven, consisting of 18 instrumentalists and singers, returns to Avalon with their brand-new concert, ‘Waltz for Jill’ in honour of former Loosely Woven member Jill Stubington who recently passed away.
The program includes Paul Kelly’s powerful ‘Sleep Australia Sleep’, two specifically anti-war songs – ‘Universal Soldier’ and Swtizerland’s recent Eurovision entry ‘Watergun’. And one of our members has set his own ‘anti greed’ words to ‘Gone to the moon’.
There will be a number of well-known songs including:

• Watergun (Switzerland’s entry into this year’s Eurovision)

• I’m on fire • Happy Young Heart (Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘The Sorcerer’)
• O Carolan’s Welcome Instruments this time will include violins, flute, recorder, trumpet, harmonium, concertina, harp, guitars, keyboard and percussion.
Drinks and biscuits will be supplied.
The concert is free but donations to Amnesty are welcome.
