For some time now, gay and bisexual men in Chechnya, Russia have been detained, tortured and murdered for the sexuality. They have been locked in prisons, held against their will, and beaten into submission. Chechnya’s leader, President Ramzan Kadyrov, has promised to “eliminate the gay community” in Chechnya by Ramadan; a startling two weeks away.
Community members and allies are invited to join us on May 18th at the ABC Fountain Roundabout as we hold a peaceful candelight vigil for our brothers across the sea.
Bring out your rainbows and LGBTI spirit from 5pm as the fountain is lit up in solidarity to those suffering.
