We love showcasing the amazing work of our activists in our communications and on social media (with your consent)—these resources will help you capture your group in action.
If you’re hosting an event or activity and want to document it with some exceptional, high quality photography, read more about the Photography Network below.

The Photography Network
We are a group of volunteer photographers that help capture some of the incredible human rights work our movement does. You’ll see us at rallies, stunts, and events taking photos of our activists – visualising our people power.
If you’d like to book a photographer for your event or action, you can let us know through the Host an Event form. To request a photographer for a non-event related project, please fill out this brief.
Obtaining Consent
In order for Amnesty International to be able to publish your photos we need all identifiable people photographed to fill in a media consent form providing us with permission to use their image. We must also have signed consent from parents to use identifiable photos of people under 18.
- Get the names of people in photos as you take them and ask them to read and sign a media consent form. Make sure to print off copies before the event.
- When photographing crowd shots or large public demonstrations it’s not necessary to ask for individuals’ consent – however please ask for consent of any people you’re shooting close up.
For more information about how to capture appropriate, quality content for Amnesty International, check out our Style Guide (see page 29 onwards).

Please submit your photos or videos via the below form or email them to activism@amnesty.org.au. For larger files, please use WeTransfer.
Submitting Content
Please send your best 5-10 shots only (unless you are a member of the Photography network who has specifically been tasked with photographing the event) along with the consent forms and a short blurb explaining what’s happening in the photos and who to credit the pictures to.
Please note that by submitting your content, you are giving Amnesty International Australia permission to reproduce the work on its website, print communications and social media channels

Free / Stock Images
If you are creating digital content or event promotions material, there are several platforms where you can access free images:
ADAM
- ADAM is Amnesty International’s internal audio-visual archive. Please contact the Supporter Care team at activism@amnesty.org.au to request campaign and activism photos from ADAM.
- Create an account and begin searching.
- Make sure you choose “All creative commons” from the license dropdown. Creative commons are the images that are free to use, as long as you appropriately credit the photographer.
- Go to Settings > advanced search and scroll down to “usage rights”.
- Select “free to use or share”, type in your search query and then click “advanced search”. Choose images at the largest size, so they don’t appear grainy on the web.
- The disclaimer says “Unsplash grants you an irrevocable, nonexclusive, worldwide copyright license to download, copy, modify, distribute, perform, and use photos from Unsplash for free, including for commercial purposes, without permission from or attributing the photographer or Unsplash.”
